Here's a Viewt. Without asking Mr Google who can recognise a familiar little Japanese car under all that?

Nope, but based on a newer model of the donor car for the Figaro.

Yes, the side window area is the same.

This second gen Viewt is definitely better looking than the K11 based first generation.

Technically it's a Nissan March. In Japan the Micra is called a March. A coachbuilt car by Mitsuoka I wrote a piece on it before.

My guess was going to be Nissan Figaro as well.

Both the Figaro and the Viewt are based on the Micra, although different models.

I don't know my JDM models very well. There's so many that they get over there that we hardly even ever hear about. Only reason I know the Figaro is I've seen one driving around a few times.

Nissan did a whole range of odd cars in the 1990s until changing economic times meant that they had to go back to basics.
Here's a Pao and an S Cargo:

This is pretty much the only Mitsuoka that doesn't make me want to vomit.

I've actually seen an S-Cargo around here as well. There's certainly nothing wrong with going back to basics.

No, but I meant that they had to go back to making mass market models rather than slow selling niche cars like the Figaro.

Definitely some Mitsuoka. I think they had a model called Viewt which the headline is hinting too.

Yes, there's a Mk2 Micra underneath.
Mitsuoka sell the most spectacularly weird variations of Japanese cars.

I love the Pao. I am very glad it can be imported to the U.S. now.

It's silly but I kinda like it. I haven't seen any of those here but couple of Figaros, at least one Pao and even a Le-Seyde have managed to end up in Finland.
One family company here was bored of selling just concrete and they decided to try their luck with importing Japanese cars. They imported a lot of interesting cars but managed to drive the whole company to bankruptcy. And that included the concrete business too.

Yes, or a Micra as it's called elsewhere.

I just know it by it's Japanese designation. I kind of wish we had them here though.
